how we started

Safo Music Group was founded by platinum and gold-selling songwriter and producer Laurence Hobbs, whose passion for discovering and developing talent sparked the beginning of our journey. With years of experience in the music industry and a deep understanding of the creative process, Laurence set out to build a platform where emerging artists could find genuine support and professional guidance. Laurence has written with artists such as Sam Smith, Amanda Wilson, Cynthia Erivo, and Pixie Lott, and has had songs reach No. 1 in six countries – a reflection of his track record in crafting successful, commercially released music.

What began as a small initiative quickly grew into a vibrant hub for music development, collaboration, and career-building. Safo Music Group stands today as a testament to Laurence’s vision – a space where talent is nurtured, and potential is turned into success.

He received the Ambitious Business Owner Award 2025 from EU Business Magazine, recognising his work as founder of Safo Music Group and his contributions to the music industry.
